Economic Contributions of Mississippi Seafood Industry and Marine Recreational Fishing, 2006-2015

The economic contributions of marine recreational fishing include economic activities generated from marine fishing trips and expenditures on fishing-related durable equipment. The three marine recreational fishing modes include charter boats-for-hire, private boats, and shore fishing. 

The economic contributions of the seafood industry include economic activities generated from commercial fishing, seafood processing, seafood wholesaling, seafood importing, seafood and fish markets and seafood restaurants.

Output or sales are the gross sales by businesses within the economic region affected by an activity. The total economic contribution is the sum of direct, indirect and induced effects. The total sales contributions of marine recreational fishing industry and seafood industry are shown below:
