The Gulf states' Cooperative Extension and Sea Grant program directors have appointed members to the oil spill response task force. The initial areas for which expert teams have been assembled include

• Communications and public relations,
• Damage assessments and disaster assistance for fisheries and aquaculture,
• Sseafood safety, quality and confidence, and
• Family stress and finance.

The Gulf states task force is conducting an oil spill outreach program on the above mentioned areas since July 15, 2010.

Dr. Posadas was appointed by the MSU-Extension Service Director to participate in the Gulf states task force with empahis on the Economic Damage Assessment and Disaster Assistance Task Force.

This Multi-State Task Force has started an initial one-year outreach program on July 15, 2010.

For now, the activities of the task force are posted at the Extension Disaster Education Network website.
